Fibromyalgia- If only, it was just in my head.....

Some symptoms of fibromyalgia are chronic, widespread pain, fatigue, and heightened pain in response to tactile pressure (allodynia). Other symptoms may include tingling of the skin, prolonged muscle spasms, weakness in the limbs, nerve pain, muscle twitching, palpitations, functional bowel disturbances, and chronic sleep disturbances.

Many patients experience cognitive dysfunction (known as "brain fog" or "fibrofog"), which may be characterized by impaired concentration, problems with short and long-term memory, short-term memory consolidation, impaired speed of performance, inability to multi-task, cognitive overload, and diminished attention span. Fibromyalgia is often associated with anxiety, and depressive symptoms.

Other symptoms often attributed to fibromyalgia that may possibly be due to a comorbid disorder include myofascial pain syndrome, also referred to as chronic myofascial pain, diffuse non-dermatomal paresthesias, functional bowel disturbances and irritable bowel syndrome, genitourinary symptoms and interstitial cystitis, dermatological disorders, headaches, myoclonic twitches, and symptomatic hypoglycemia. Although fibromyalgia is classified based on the presence of chronic widespread pain, pain may also be localized in areas such as the shoulders, neck, low back, hips, or other areas. Many sufferers also experience varying degrees of myofascial pain and have high rates of comorbid temporomandibular joint disorder. 20–30% of patients with rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus may also have fibromyalgia.......
From Wikipedia

As the Doctor wrote down his diagnosis in my file, I sat frustrated.....you mean all the time I thought maybe it was ADD or Arthritis or Lyme disease.....with hope that it passes or has a treatment, I find out there is no cure and there is no definite cause.
The cold and flu season came upon us with fiery and streamed lined to everyone in sneezing distance. If you happen to fall ill with it this year, you hung onto it with stubborn reluctance. Trying to shake it off with Vitamin C and rest, if you had a chance to clear up your head, your immune system did not have a chance to build up strength before the second wave of snot and germs entered the picture. Happy winter season to us. Like most, it hit as the kids brought me home their special dose of school germs. What does my body know about handling teen boogers?
This year introduced a new wave of fatigue when I 'got sick'. With my second trip to the doctor he thought I might have Lyme disease as all the symptoms were there. Tested negative for that, so we moved onto the next.....results being 'fibromyalgia'. Now the cold and flu have passed but I now wait for remission or at least pray for it.
All these years, I was concerned about being a bit insane with the crazy travelling pains and moving from one condition to the next. I became a pro at just 'settling with it' instead of voicing any concerns. When you actually put how you feel into words, you sound like a crazy hypochondriac that wants attention. What if it was all in your head? Ignore it was more of a plausible solution. Now that it has been brought out into the frontal lobe of syndromes not to be ignored any more.......well still working on the -what is next?- part of the whole thing.
